Audiology is the health-care profession devoted to hearing and balance function. It is a clinical profession that has as its unique mission the evaluation of hearing ability, balance function, prevention of hearing loss, diagnosis of hearing loss, and treatment of communication disorders that may result from hearing loss in people of all ages. They evaluate the need for hearing devices and assess, fit, and dispense hearing aids and other assistive listening devices. In addition, they facilitate vestibular rehabilitation. They practice in different settings such as hospitals, universities, schools, private set-up, device manufactures, industries, research etc.
