A Three year old girl from Hyderabad, Alisha Firdosh suffered from hearing and speech disability. Born to parents who were daily wage workers, Alisha’s condition gave great concern to her parents as they struggled to make both ends meet with a monthly salary of 9000 rupees.
Alisha was identified by Ashray Akruti during one of our early intervention programmes and was diagnosed as having profound hearing loss. When the hearing aids supplied were not helpful enough, Alisha was recommended to undergo a Cochlear implantation surgery. This surgery generally costs around 10 lakhs, but thanks to the generosity of The Hans India Foundation, New Delhi, the surgery was not a distant dream to Alisha and her parents. The surgery was performed on 13th Dec 2019 successfully at the Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills.
Thus, the cochlear implantation aided in turning over to a bright new chapter in Alisha’s life. Overwhelmed with immense happiness, the parents and the girl look forward to a great life ahead filled with the sounds of laughter.
